The current research aimed at validating the COVID Stress Scales which is based on a self-report designed by Steven Taylor, Caeleigh A. Landry, Michelle M. Paluszek, Thomas A. Fergus, Dean McKay, & Gordon J. G. Asmundson (2020). Therefore, the research aimed at exploring the psychometric properties of the COVID stress scales and its suitability for use in educational, psychological and social contexts. The sample used for validation purposes consists of 1293 individuals. Results of the research revealed that there are six subscales; danger (D), Socio-economic consequences (SE), xenophobia (X), contamination (C), traumatic Stress (T), and Compulsive Checking (CH). The researchers have used Cronbach’s alpha for assessing scale reliability, factor analysis, Pearson correlation Coefficient. Findings of the study shows that acceptable psychometric and model fit indices have been achieved of both the scale and subscales of the COVID Stress. Therefore, the COVID Stress scales is a reliable and valid tool for assessing stress and anxiety related to COVID-19.
