Research on the Chicago novel Alaa al-Aswany, based on sex, is a criterion in analyzing events and characters. This research was divided into two other researches:
the first entitled “ Sex and the unspoken” and the second entitled “ The Seven Types Of Sex”.
The first research holds the concept of sex as a lust that controls men and women to desire each other to achieve the inner physical needs and its an absolute desire appears without the person knowing its source, and its not a thing to be ashamed of or needed to be hidden because societies have made sex one of the most important unspoken taboos moreover banned in public in order to preserve the general morals, therefore sex is linked to the institution of marriage. Every relationship within this institution is honorable and otherwise unsaid. It is an institution that enshrines the principle of the submission of women in the face of male machismo. Because art is a mirror of time, male power over women has emerged through literary works and the opposite has appeared in tales that emphasize criticism of men and revelation The woman.
The second section
Seven Types of Sex, summarizes the characters of Egyptian and American society:
(1) Sex and the contradiction of the Egyptian character (They want and fear sex).
(2) Sex and tolerance (political and religious).
(3) sex and control (Sexual inducement to subdue the other party politically or sexually)
- Er.oticism Submissiveness in order to satisfy inner desire.
- Political: The use of sex to humiliate political opponents.
(4) Gender and male society.
(5) Sex and social oppression.
(6)sex and freedom.
(7) the normal sex.
