The current study aimed to determine the level of suggestibility and tendency towards suicide among female students of Taibah University, in addition to identifying the nature of the correlation between suggestibility and tendency toward suicide among female students of Taibah University. The study also aimed at revealing the effect of suggestibility, sleep disturbance, and the interaction between them on the tendency toward suicide among Taibah University female students.
The study's measures of suggestibility and tendency toward suicide were applied, as well as a question was asked to detect the levels of the sleep disorder variable (regular - disturbed) on the main sample consisting of (322) female students from Taibah University. The results revealed that there is a lower than average level of suggestibility among Taibah University female students, as well as a lower than average level of tendency toward suicide. The results also showed that there is a statistically significant positive correlation at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) between suggestibility and the tendency towards suicide among Taibah University female students. The results also showed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in the tendency toward suicide among female students of Taibah University, due to the difference in their levels of sleep (regular - disturbed) in favour of those with disturbed sleep. It was possible to explain 2% of the explanation of the variation in tendency toward suicide through sleep disturbance.. The results also revealed that there were statistically significant differences at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) in the tendency toward suicide among Taibah University students, according to the different levels of suggestibility (low-medium-high) in favor of those who are high in suggestibility. It was possible to explain 15% of the explanation of the variation in tendency toward suicide through suggestibility. The results showed a statistically significant effect at the level of significance (α ≤ 0.05) for the interaction of both suggestibility and sleep disturbance in tendency towards suicide, and it was possible to explain 2% of the explanation of the variation in suicidal tendencies from their interaction together.
