The present study aimed to explore the Islamic rooting of ethical leadership and its actual practice, as well as its role in achieving professional performance quality from the Islamic perspective among faculty members at Al-Azhar University. To achieve this objective, a descriptive research design was employed, and data was collected through a questionnaire completed by a sample consisting of 468 faculty members, selected according to gender, specialty, and academic degree. The results indicated that the level of ethical leadership practice among the faculty members was high, and that the role of ethical leadership practice in achieving professional performance quality from the Islamic perspective was also high. Furthermore, a strong positive relationship was found between ethical leadership practice and professional performance quality from the Islamic perspective among the faculty members, and no significant differences were found in their responses regarding ethical leadership practice and its relationship with professional performance quality due to gender or specialty. However, significant differences were found in their responses due to academic degree, favoring the full professorship rank over the assistant professorship and lecturer ranks.
