ABSTRACT
The Learning Management System (LMS) has been adopted in all stages of general education in Saudi Arabia since 2017. Initially introduced as "Future Gateway," it was later renamed "My School" following the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the novelty of the system in the school environment since its implementation, several obstacles and challenges have been identified that may hinder its effective utilization. This research aims to identify the key factors that influence the implementation and activation of the LMS to achieve its objectives. Additionally, it aims to determine the positive and negative factors that may impede the implementation of a project of this magnitude. The research focuses on exploring the factors influencing the use of the Learning Management System, known as the "Future Gateway," in general education. To achieve the research objectives, a mixed methods approach was employed to collect data through two instruments. Firstly, a survey was conducted to gather opinions from beneficiaries regarding the system's implementation. The survey was distributed to 2,394 system beneficiaries, including digital transformation officers, teachers, and students in three regions: Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Eastern Province. Secondly, structured interviews were conducted with digital transformation officers who serve as system implementers in schools. The interviews aimed to deepen the understanding of the relationship between beneficiaries, obstacles, and challenges. The results revealed several common factors and variables that influence the use of the system in general education. These factors are based on beneficiaries' experiences and their utilization of the system. These factors can be categorized into three main dimensions: educational, administrative, and technological, each consisting of sub-factors that interact and affect one another. Some of the key factors identified include technical support, instructional design, ease of communication, usability, and assessment. The research recommends considering these factors when adopting any learning management system, particularly in the context of general education, especially when implementing projects on a large scale. Additionally, emphasis should be placed on increasing technological and cultural awareness and their effective utilization by introducing innovative solutions, such as online training or developing sufficient educational products to address field needs and align them with the project's objectives. This will help identify the challenges faced by beneficiaries in system implementation and provide immediate and effective solutions.
