The research aims to present the story of Ibn Hazm’s ignorance, as well as Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi’s ignorance of Al-Tirmidhi, collect the sayings of scholars on that, criticize the issue and discuss it with evidence and proofs. The research is organized into two chapters with a conclusion. Among the most prominent results of the research is that Al-Tirmidhi is praised and commended, and the scholars have unanimously agreed on that. Ibn Hazm’s knowledge, and his high status among scholars, are criticized for his haste in judging the ignorance of the narrators. A group of those who reported that Ibn Hazm was ignorant of Al-Tirmidhi: Twelve scholars, the first of whom was Ibn Al-Qattan Al-Fasi, and that Ibn Hazm ruled that “Muhammad bin Isa bin Sura” was ignorant in his book “Al-Isal” and he had forgotten that it was Abu Isa Al-Tirmidhi, and therefore he did not rule that he was ignorant in Al-Muhalla, but rather He praised him in his book “Al-Risalah Al-Bahira”, or it can be said that he did not know him at first, but later his condition became clear to him and he praised him. It is proven that Al-Tirmidhi Mosque entered Andalusia about seventy years before the death of Ibn Hazm.
Ibn Dihiya’s claim that Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi was ignorant of Al-Tirmidhi is rejected. Al-Khatib praised him and quoted him, and it confirms the scholars’ description of Ibn Dihya as taking a risk in transmitting.
