Abstract
This study, entitled (The Impact of Narrative Variation on Guiding the Meaning: "Aba Al-Sarm" Poem by Abu Thuaib Al- Hudhali as an Example), delves into the apparent impact of the word on the context of the poetic verse and its meaning. It aligns, in a way or another, with the overarching debate of word and meaning, a subject that has been captivated by both of ancient and modern literary criticism under various names.
This study is intended to answer the following main question: How profoundly does a word affects the alteration of the contextual meaning of a poetic verse? This question generates a cascade of further questions, such as: To what extent does word altered? How does this alternation impact the same? In what way does the contextual meaning of a verse alter and evolve from one line to another?
The research aims to:
Unveil the impact of varying a single word on the verse meaning.
Assess how the selected word is suitable from one verse to another.
The nature of this study required it to be divided into an introduction, that discussed the research problem and objectives, and a preface that introduced the critical issue of word and meaning. Afterwards, the research introduced the poet, followed by two sections; First Section: Causes of Narrative Variation, Second Section: An analytical view of the various narrations in the poem.
