Abstract:
This study aims at investigating to what degree effective teaching skills are practiced by Arabic language teachers in the secondary stage based on the requirements of the transition to a knowledge society. To achieve this objective, the researcher adopted the descriptive method through preparing observation card to monitor the performance of Arabic language teachers. The card included a list of effective teaching skills based on the requirements of transferring to knowledge society.
The study introduced a group of results whereas the most important are that: the degree of practicing all effective teaching by Arabic language teachers in the secondary stage was of intermediate degree in general. Also, there are statistically significant differences in the participants’ responses toward practicing effective teaching skills based on the requirements of transforming to knowledge society in terms of academic qualification variable in favor of those who have Master degree. In addition, there are statistically significant differences in the participants’ responses toward practicing effective teaching skills based on the requirements of transforming to knowledge society in terms of training courses variable in favor of those who have more than three courses in effective teaching skills field. Besides, there aren’t statistically differences in the participants’ responses toward practicing effective teaching skills based on the requirements of transforming to knowledge society in terms of teaching experience variable.
Finally, the study introduced a number of recommendations whereas the most important are:
Holding educational training courses and workshops in the field of teaching practices required for the transition to the knowledge society.
Encouraging teachers to design educational situations that help students understand and accept multiple personalities, differences, and cultures.
