The study aimed to identify the role of play in strengthening family ties as perceived by parents and the obstacles to strengthening family ties through play, The study relied on a descriptive survey method, where the researcher prepared a survey that was applied to a sample of Saudi fathers and mothers in Riyadh city in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who have children between the ages of (3-6) years of both males and females. Their number reached (380) fathers and mothers. The study concluded that high agreement from the study sample that they play with their children. The results also showed a moderate level of approval for the obstacles to strengthening family ties through play. The most important of these obstacles, were: the attractiveness of video games that push the child to always choose them, the child wants to play with children who are the same age as the child, the limited time available for families with a large number of burdens, it led to a reduction in free time allocated to playing,
