The 1960s witnessed profound transformations in Arabic poetry, marked by a rebellion against traditional forms and an openness to new intellectual horizons. Among the most prominent poets of this generation was Mohammed Ibrahim Abu Sinna, who masterfully blended
romanticism and realism, authenticity and innovation
This study explores the defining features of his early poetic works and their relationship with the poetry of his contemporaries—such as *Salah Abdel Sabour, Amal Dunqul, Mohammed Afifi Matar, Ahmed Abdel Muti Hijazi, and Farouk Shousha—highlighting points of convergence and divergence in
language, rhythm, and artistic vision. Additionally, it analyzes the most significant artistic and intellectual currents that shaped his poetry.
The research aims to examine the essence of
1960s poetry as embodied in Abu Sinna’s verse, shedding light on his pivotal role in the modernist poetic movement. It focuses on the stylistic and thematic qualities that defined this era and how they manifested in his creative output.
The study is structured into an introduction ("The Genius of Creativity: Between Individuality and Influence") and three main sections:
The Poetry of Mohammed Ibrahim Abu Sinna
The Romanticism of the Sixties in Abu Sinna’s Poetry
Artistic Structure
Each section is supported by detailed poetic analysis and examples.
Methodologically, the research employs descriptive and analytical approaches, examining Abu Sinna’s verses through close readings while situating them within the historical and cultural context of the 1960s. Furthermore, it compares his poetic experience with that of his peers, offering a comprehensive understanding of his artistic distinctiveness and literary influence.
This study not only illuminates Abu Sinna’s contributions but also enriches our appreciation of a transformative period in Arabic literature
