This study explored modern trends in scientific research within curricula and teaching methods using a descriptive methodology to analyze dissertations completed between 2019 and 2022 at King Saud University, Al-Azhar University, and the University of Arizona. At King Saud University, research predominantly focused on science and educational technology, emphasizing assessment, models, and instructional strategies. The descriptive approach and measurement tools were the most utilized, with master’s theses dominating the research output. At Al-Azhar University, educational technology led the fields, followed by curricula and teaching methods for Arabic. Research emphasized relationships between variables and program effectiveness, with the experimental approach being dominant and tests as the most used tools. Doctoral dissertations outnumbered master’s theses. At the University of Arizona, social studies ranked first, followed by teacher performance and assessment. The descriptive approach and measurement tools were common, and master’s theses exceeded doctoral dissertations. Across all universities, assessment was the leading trend, followed by studying relationships between variables, reflecting contemporary research priorities in curricula and teaching methods. These findings highlight the emphasis on evaluation and innovation in educational research across different cultural and institutional contexts.
