This study aims to explore the level of academic burnout and academic motivation among preparatory school students in the city of Jerusalem, and to examine the nature of the relationship between them. It also seeks to identify differences in students’ responses based on gender and academic performance level. The study employed the descriptive correlational approach, using two questionnaires to measure academic burnout and motivation for academic achievement. The sample consisted of (102) male and female students selected using stratified random sampling from various preparatory schools in Jerusalem. Results indicated a moderate level of academic burnout and a relatively low level of academic motivation among students. Furthermore, no statistically significant differences were found in levels of burnout or motivation based on gender or academic achievement. However, a statistically significant negative correlation was found between academic burnout and academic motivation, suggesting that higher burnout is associated with lower motivation and vice versa. Based on these findings, the study presented practical recommendations aimed at reducing burnout and enhancing student motivation, particularly in educational settings facing psychological and social challenges such as those in Jerusalem.
