The study aimed to identify the requirements for implementing sustainability in educational institutions from the perspective of secondary school principals in Khamis Mushait Governorate, as well as to uncover the challenges that hinder this implementation and to propose effective mechanisms for application. The study employed the descriptive survey method and utilized a questionnaire applied to a sample of 80 male and female principals. Data were analyzed using SPSS software. The results indicated that the level of importance of sustainability implementation requirements was rated as "strongly agree," with an overall mean of (4.30). The environmental dimension was considered the most important, followed by the economic and then the social dimensions. The findings also revealed moderate to high challenges, most notably a lack of funding and weak community awareness. Proposed mechanisms included integrating sustainability goals into school plans, designing comprehensive educational activities, and building community partnerships. The study recommended the development of unified national policies to incorporate sustainability in education, the qualification of school leadership, enhancement of infrastructure, and encouragement of student-led initiatives, emphasizing the importance of continuous evaluation. Several future research topics were suggested to broaden the academic treatment of educational sustainability.
