The current study aimed to identify the difficulties in using distance learning to teach critical reading skills and the ways to overcome these difficulties. The researcher adopted the descriptive survey approach. The study sample consisted of 120 middle school Arabic teachers, male and female, working in governmental schools for the Ministry of Education of Kuwait. The study participants were randomly selected during the school year 2021 (1442 AH). The study tool was a questionnaire. The results of the study found that there were difficulties in using distance learning to teach critical reading skills to a great extent, with a mean of 3.63 and a standard deviation of 0.99. It was also found that the ways suggested to overcome difficulties in using distance learning to teach critical reading skills were of medium effect, with a mean of 3.05 and a standard deviation of 1.09. In light of these results, the researcher recommended that it is necessary to continuously develop the distance learning system, cope with the latest technological developments, and learn from the experiences of the other countries. The researcher also recommended having intensive training programs on how to use the virtual platforms of distance learning to teach critical reading skills as a modern technique in light of the Corona virus crisis.
