Effectiveness of a Counseling Program based on Positive Thinking in Developing Psychological Resilience and Life Orientation among a Sample of University Students

Abstract

 
 


The current study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the counseling program based on positive thinking in developing the psychological resilience and life orientation among university students.

The sample of the current study consisted of (32) first-grade students at Arabic and History departments (Literary Section), Biology and Chemistry departments (Science Section), Faculty of Education, Damanhour University: (16) students as an experimental group, (16) students  as a control group, ranging between (18 -19) years, with an average age (18.9 years) and a standard deviation of (0.122). The study used Psychological Resilience Scale (by: Conner, Davidson, 2003), Life orientation scale, Positive Thinking Scale (by: the researcher), and the Counseling Program based on positive thinking (by: the researcher). The study revealed the effectiveness of the counseling program in developing the psychological resilience and life orientation in the experimental group, the continuation of the counseling program effectiveness in developing the psychological resilience and life orientation after finishing the program and after the follow-up period, and the effectiveness of the internal program in developing positive thinking among the members of the experimental group has been achieved / proven
