Abstract

At the present time, the Internet is used to access and use social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and many other platforms that have many important benefits for everyone, including university students, but its misuse can have severe effects on the physical, social and psychological health of the individual and its most prominent manifestations What is known as social media addiction.
The addiction to social networking sites expresses the student’s use of these sites for long periods of time and excessively, so that the individual suffers as a result of this excessive use of many psychological, social, health, academic, and occupational disorders, which are the individual’s neglect of his school duties and the tendency to social isolation, and low level of self-control and appreciation, low level of life satisfaction, feelings of anxiety and depression, unwillingness to social events and activities, feeling headaches and pain in different areas of the body (Amani Safi, 2017, pg. 28)
