The Social and Economic Return of Technical and Vocational Training. A study applied to General Organization for Technical and Vocational Training in Riyadh

The study aimed to identify the degree of economic and social return realization of technical and vocational training in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to determine the level of difficulties facing the achievement of this return in order to reach a set of recommendations to achieve the economic and social return of technical and vocational training. The study followed the descriptive approach in a sample social survey method, and to achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used a questionnaire that was applied to a random sample of (328) experts working in the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The study found a number of results, the most important of which are: that the social and economic return of technical and vocational training in Saudi Arabia is achieved in a high degree in general, with an average of (2.62 out of 3.00), and the economic return came in the first place in order with a high degree of verification with an average of (2.66 out of 3.00). The most prominent economic returns were achieved in that technical and vocational training programs increase the opportunities of trainees in the field of entrepreneurship, and increase the chances of trainees in obtaining jobs. With an average of (2.58 out of 3.00), the most prominent social returns are that technical and vocational training programs make trainees acquire leadership skills through technical and vocational training programs, and that technical and vocational training programs enhance the trainee's loyalty and belonging to his country, and develop trainees' knowledge. Achieving the economic and social return came to a medium degree with an average of (2.24 out of 3.00), and the most prominent of these difficulties were: (dropout from technical and vocational training programs, lack of preference for some Families enroll their children in those programs, and in light of these results, the study came out with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are: working on developing companies with government and private institutions and the third non-profit sector to achieve common goals, developing guidance and counseling programs in training units to be more qualitative and comprehensive to meet the social and psychological needs of the trainees.
