Teachers perspective of using social stories with students with ADHD\ Qualitative study

Abstract

the current study aimed to investigate the point of view of special education teachers on using social stories with students with ADHD. To achieve the goal of this study, (qualitative research) was used by interviewing four of special education teachers of students with ADHD within “Yaseer” program in Al-Ahsa. The study found that teachers do not have a clear perspective of social stories and their adherence to traditional strategies. With the presence of many obstacles such as time, the large number of students, the lack of distinctive programs, the lack of effective educational leadership, the lack of effective communication with parents, the lack of cooperation between researchers and teachers, policies of accepting students in teachers’ preparation programs, and teachers. The participating teachers presented some suggestions to improve the use of social strategic stories, such as using more than one social story for one behavior, presenting the story through digital media, and integrating the social story strategy with other strategies. In conclusion of these results, the study provided some advice and suggestions for future researchers.
