The study aimed to examine the use of the 360° multi-source evaluation approach as a tool for developing the performance of faculty members in Egyptian universities, and it consisted of four sections. The first dealt with: its origins, development, and concepts associated with it, such as performance evaluation, accounting, accountability, control, and accountability, and an analysis of the philosophy on which it is based. The second dealt with the justifications and purposes of using it as a tool for developing a faculty member’s performance, and concluded with aspects of the 360° multi-source evaluation of performance, which are: self-evaluation, the student’s evaluation of him, his evaluation from his colleagues in the department and college, and his evaluation from his superiors in the department and college.
The third dealt with: the field part, with the aim of seeking the opinions of a sample of professors of the College of Education in Damanhour, professors of the Department of Educational Fundamentals in it, and officials from the dean, deputies, head of the department, and students of the fourth year in 2021, all the people, to know their opinion about the performance of the department members in the college as an attempt to experiment, where a questionnaire was applied that included dimensions Eight: self-confidence, morals, competence, quality of teaching, quality of classroom management, evaluation, orientation toward others, and friendship. The results of the study showed the possibility of using the 360° multi-source evaluation approach to develop the performance of faculty members in the department, which means the possibility of circulating it to faculty members in all universities in Egypt. Although the results were exaggerated; However, if the evaluation process was repeated, the evaluators would gain objectivity, accuracy, and continuous improvement. In the fourth section, I presented a proposed formula for its application that included: the starting points of the formula, its various aspects, and the procedures that must be taken. It recommended the need to raise the awareness of faculty members and make them aware of the necessity of evaluating their performance on an ongoing basis, facilitating the process of conducting it and not rushing its results, as it is expected to be marred by obstacles that will soon disappear, and the study recommended the necessity of adopting it in promotion processes.
