The Degree of Inclusion of Reading Comprehension Skills in Reading Comprehension Activities in the Second Grade English Language Book "Mega Goal 2"

Abstract

The purpose of the study is to determine the Inclusion degree of reading comprehension skills in the reading text activities in the English language book (Mega Goal 2) for 2nd secondary grade in Saudi Arabia. To achieve the aim of the study, the researchers adopted the descriptive approach (content analysis method). The purposeful sample was (48) reading texts in the student and activity book for the three semesters of the 1446 edit. Further, the study tool was content analysis form. The findings of the study showed that; the reading comprehension skills were available at general mean of (33.3%);as literal comprehension skills were in first place as the highest reading comprehension skills through content analysis with a rate of (68.7%), followed by deductive comprehension skills with a rate of (25.9%), and then critical comprehension skills with a rate of (5.4%.). Moreover, there is an imbalance in the distribution of reading comprehension skills among the different reading comprehension skills. Based on the findings, the researchers called on those responsible for the English language book for 2nd secondary grade, (Mega Goal 2), to achieve balance in the availability of reading comprehension skills in the reading text activities.
