The research aimed to identify the impact of an educational environment based on smart learning on developing 21st-century skills and extensive reading skills among first-year secondary female students. The research followed a quasi-experimental design, and the research tools consisted of two instruments: a 21st-century skills test and an extensive reading skills test. The study was applied to a sample of 72 first-year secondary students from the 15th Secondary School in Medina, consisting of 35 students in the experimental group and 37 students in the control group. Both an independent samples t-test and the Eta-squared formula were used to measure the effect size. The results revealed a significant positive effect of using a smart learning-based educational environment in developing both 21st-century skills and extensive reading skills among first-year secondary students, as evidenced by all skills tested. A statistically significant relationship was found at a significance level of (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students in the post-test of both the 21st-century skills and extensive reading skills. The research recommended implementing smart learning-based educational environments in secondary schools due to their positive impact on developing both 21st-century skills and extensive reading skills. Additionally, it suggested providing workshops and training courses for teachers, focusing on employing smart learning environments and their interactive tools to enhance 21st-century skills and extensive reading. The integration of smart learning-based environments into the curriculum, especially in Arabic language and reading skills subjects, was also recommended to improve linguistic skills.
