Bullying against the wife and its relationship to learned helplessness and marital silence in a sample of wives in the light of some demographic variables

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify the nature of the relationship between bullying against the wife and both learned helplessness and marital silence in a sample of wives, as well as identifying the differences in bullying against the wife according to the variables of the wife's work (working - non-working) and the duration of marriage ("3-5" years). - more than 5 years), and the educational level (medium-high). The basic research sample consisted of (800) participating women, with (449) working women, (351) non-working women, (400) their marriage period of 3-5 years, (400) For more than 5 years, (324) intermediate educational level, (476) higher educational level, and to verify the research objectives, measures of bullying against the wife, learned helplessness, and marital silence were applied by the researcher, and the results of the research revealed a positive correlation between bullying against the wife and both of (acquired helplessness and marital silence) at the level of significance (0.01), and the results showed that there were statistically significant differences in the dimensions of bullying against the wife and the total degree according to the variables of the wife’s work and the duration of marriage in the direction of the non-working wife and the duration of marriage from 3-5 years, while it indicated The results indicated that there were no differences in marital bullying due to the educational level, except in the dimension of physical bullying. It was also shown that the learned helplessness and marital silence in wives can be predicted through bullying against the wife.
