An intensive training program based on the principles of the Fifth Industrial Revolution and its technologies to develop faculty members’ digital skills and improve their attitudes towards the technologies of that revolution

This study aimed to build an intensive training program based on Fifth Industrial Revolution, directed to faculty members in the College of Education in Imam Mohammad ibn Saud Islamic University, to identify the effectiveness of this training program on developing faculty's digital teaching skills, and improving their attitudes towards these technologies. The researcher has used the Quasi-experimental approach, with One Group Pretest Posttest design. The study sample consisted of (29) faculty members from the College of Education at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University. The researcher designed the two research instruments, the first instrument to measure faculty members’ attitudes towards the technologies of the Fifth Industrial Revolution, and the second instruments to measure their digital teaching skills, after implementing the intensive training program, the results showed that there was a statistically significant impact of the program on faculty's attitudes towards the technologies of the Fifth Industrial Revolution. On the other side, the results showed that there was no statistically significant impact of the training program on the digital skills of faculty members.
The researcher explained these results because the faculty members already have the desire to know about these technologies (despite their lack of in-depth knowledge of them), so their attitude towards them improved clearly (with statistical significance). One the other side, they are still unfamiliar with these technologies, so it may take more time for them to be able to employ them during their lessons.
The researcher concluded the study with a number of recommendations, such as focusing professional development programs on contents of technologies related to the Fifth Industrial Revolution, continuing to evaluate the technical infrastructure in universities, and finally conducting similar studies using different variables other than these variables have investigated in this study.
