The Level of ChatGPT Use by Computer Teachers in the Jazan Region

Abstract

The current research aimed to identify and assess the level of ChatGPT use by computer teachers in the Jazan Region. A descriptive survey approach was used to address the research objective, reviewing the literature and studies related to the application of ChatGPT, addressing its concept, philosophy, and rationale for its adoption. The sample amounted to (230) computer teachers in the Jazan region. They were randomly selected and distributed according to variables (gender, level of experience in teaching, and obtaining courses in the field of artificial intelligence). The questionnaire was used as a research tool, including four axes that represented the most important uses of ChatGpt by computer teachers, which were concentrated in (lesson preparation - classroom activities - test preparation - extracurricular activities). Among the most important results reached by the research were: There were no statistically significant differences at the level (0.05) between the averages of the two research groups of males and females in their view of revealing the degree of use of ChatGpt among computer teachers in the Jazan region, as the value of the t in the four questionnaire axes reached, respectively (0.044), (0.528), (0.048), (1.024), which are statistically insignificant values. There were statistically significant differences between the responses of the sample members on the four questionnaire axes according to the variable of the level of experience. The research presented a set of recommendations and proposals that work to expand the use of the ChatGPT in the educational process.
