The degree of Heads of Department practicing Participatory Leadership at University of Ha'il and its Relationship to Improving Faculty Performance

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the degree of practice of heads of departments at the College of Education in the areas of participatory leadership (participation in decision-making - delegation of authority - human relations - communication and information building), and the level of improvement in the performance of faculty members of the College of Education at Hail University and to reveal the relationship between them. The study relied on the correlational survey method. The questionnaire was used as a study tool and was applied to a sample consisting of 138 faculty members. The most prominent results reached by the study are that the practice of heads of academic departments in the areas of participatory leadership came with an arithmetic mean of (4.25), a standard deviation of (0.75), and a very high degree. The level of improvement in the performance of faculty members came with an arithmetic mean of (4.27), a standard deviation of (0.82), and a very high degree. The results also indicated that the correlation between the areas of participatory leadership and the level of improvement in the performance of faculty members is positive and very high.
